Are you hosting an event?

File a request to have a Minnesota Housing staff member attend.

Use this form to request Minnesota Housing leadership attendance and/or remarks at events such as groundbreakings, construction site tours, grand openings or ribbon cuttings, speaking engagements, town hall forums, or other events.

Please submit your request at least three weeks prior to your event date.

Housing Development and Capital Funding Programs

In effort to advance Minnesota Housing's Strategic Priorities and increase housing that is affordable, Minnesota Housing offers a variety of housing development and capital program funding options for rental properties throughout Minnesota.

New to Minnesota Housing

Minnesota Housing believes in diversification of projects, proposal types, and partners. It would be an honor for you to partner with us. The Multifamily Division has several resources to help you get started, including trainings, technical meetings, and tools to help you put together a rental housing development concept to apply for funding for your development or housing project.

Requests for Proposals Information

Throughout the year, Minnesota Housing makes available request for proposals (RFP) to project owners and developers. Learn about RFPs, technical assistance, and tools used to apply for funding. Application requirements vary depending on the type of financing or funding sought.

We offer a variety of funding options for rental housing development that may be requested through an annual or open-pipeline Request for Proposals (RFPs). Learn more about each Request for Proposal.

Capital Funding Programs

We offer a variety of deferred and amortizing financing options on a year-round basis. Each capital funding program offers additional requirements, terms, and eligibility requirements for the development.

Amortizing Mortgages

Financing is available through the annual Multifamily Consolidated RFP/HTC funding round and on a year-round basis.

Deferred Loan and Grant Programs

Deferred loans and grant programs are available throughout the year. Deferred loans are generally structured as repayable loans at 0% for a term of 30 years.

Housing Tax Credits

The Low Income Housing Tax Credit (HTC) Program awards and allocates federal tax credits to owners of qualified affordable rental housing projects. These HTCs, which offer a 10-year reduction in tax liability, are sold to investors in exchange for capital to build eligible affordable rental housing units in new construction, rehabilitation, or acquisition with rehabilitation.

Post-Selection

Request for Action (RFA) and Change Notifications

Our Request for Action (RFA) process is used for different servicing requests, including assumptions, ownership/management company changes, subordinations, and payoffs. An RFA must be completed for all servicing requests. Learn more about our RFA and change notification process.
