ST. PAUL, MN - Minnesota Housing has awarded nearly $7.5 million to 21 infrastructure projects that will support housing development across Greater Minnesota. Grants provide cities and Tribal Nations with funding for public infrastructure, such as roads and utilities, necessary to support housing development. The funds are part of the new Greater Minnesota Housing Infrastructure Grant Program.

Infrastructure projects will support plans for approximately 450 single family and 400 multifamily housing units across Greater Minnesota. Funding will help establish sewer and water services, build streets and manage stormwater. Individual grants range from $25,000-$500,000.

“This program helps address a key barrier to creating more affordable and workforce housing across Greater Minnesota,” said Jennifer Ho, commissioner of Minnesota Housing. “These projects will ensure hundreds of families can find and afford a home in their communities.”

Established in 2023, the program is funded through both General Obligation Bonds and state appropriations.

Greater Minnesota cities, counties and Tribes were eligible for funding through the program. Grantees must use funds for no more than half the capital costs of physical infrastructure necessary to support the development of affordable or workforce housing. Recipients must cover the remaining cost of the infrastructure development with matching resources. Grants were approved by the Minnesota Housing board of directors at their October 23, 2025, meeting.
