The Homeownership Education, Counseling and Training Fund (HECAT) provides financial support to eligible non-profit organizations to deliver a variety of homebuyer/homeowner education, counseling and training services to Minnesotans. The RFP for the HECAT 2014/2015 year is now closed. RFP materials for the HECAT 2015/2016 year will be available in spring 2015.
The National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling (NFMC) Program provides federally appropriated funds to non-profit organizations for foreclosure intervention counseling, training and expenses associated with administering the NFMC Program.
Under the MHA Outreach and Intake Project, counselors worked with struggling homeowners to help them better understand their range of options under the MHA Program, and assisted eligible homeowners with completion of the MHA application process. As of September 30, 2014, no new applications can be submitted under this Project. However, counselors and homeowners are still able to submit applications for the Making Home Affordable Program. Funding for this activity is made available periodically through HECAT and NFMC.
